This a quick video of a 1950's school light from a post Katrina school demolition. It takes a 500w shaded bowl mogul base bulb, so it can probably be used to cook with, but it does light the room very well. It was in pretty sad condition when I found it, but a trip to work and visit to the bead blaster removed the old, damaged paint, and i repainted and rewired it as good as new. I decided to keep the mogul base setup since i liked the bright light, and a wall dimmer can take it down a few notches as needed.
